Suffice it to say that most neat and utilitarian things you find on
the web are achieved with either Flash, CGI, Java or JavaScript. Page counters, slideshows,
drop-down menus, search engines, order forms, mouseovers, guestbooks, games...etc....the
list goes on forever. Definitions:
CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripts and programs are used to
transform otherwise static web pages into interactive wonders. Java is a
language developed by Sun Microsystems which allows Web pages to contain
code that is executed on the browser. JavaScript is Netscape's cross-platform, object-based
scripting language for client and server applications. A great language for creating
multimedia for the web. Flash
is a graphics animation
program which creates rich animated mini movies & interactive content for
the web and other mediums. |
